Summer Projects
Self Portraits - 6
|
I was quite excited to do my self portraits, since my first one was a success , well in my opinion. I knew how to start, what to do and what I was going for, and I liked that. So the basics, I gathered selfies I had taken during the summer. During the summer I tried taking selfies differently, such as close ups, and from the side to catch my profile. Then I drew, mainly in lines because I wanted to switch it up in Photoshop. Therefore I did. I added color, contrasted it, make it brighter and play with the filters. However it wasn't all done in computer. From my part I played with my hair, I curled it so my hair could go everywhere and draw that, to make the drawing more interesting. Second experiment was using colored pencils and shading. |
Still Life- 6
Process:
For the second part of my project I did 6 still life drawings, it was new for me , and I never really liked it because I wasn't good at it. The thing about me is that I like to try new things , it helps me learn more about myself and my interests. However since my drawings didn't turn out as expected [from me] , I edited it with Photoshop , I wanted to add pure color, no specific filter, just straight up color, which was orange and red. Thought Photoshop didn't add shade to the flower I did, I added a lot of shading to the flower to make the art work 3D. |

ACT questions
1. The cause and effect relationship between my artwork and inspiration is noticeable, I was inspired by Andy Warhol's Marilyn (1967) , the filter and colors used inspired me to use colored pencils and experiment . I tried to experiment with primary color and secondary colors, I overlapped the colors to see the results, even though I was aware I could ruin my drawing but I wanted to risk it.
2. Before beginning my project I didn't do much research, I preferred to gain knowledge my experimenting . Though, I did find pictures in magazines or in social media that caught my attention and had me think "I should do something similar to that".
3. As mentioned previously I didn't do much research, but I did look up into pop art more, since it interests me more. I also did a short compare and contrast between pop art and other art movements. Overall I saw how the date affected the artists and their art.
4. My central idea was to experiment, I thought that since it's summer I should experiment more before going back to school . I wanted to prepare myself and be more open minded about my decisions and options.
5. One thing I was going for was to find my ultimate interest, which is pop art, throughout the process I also didn't want to stick to one art movement. I still want to look into other art movements, and hopefully combine them. Perhaps combining is my thing.
